ACF Fiorentina, commonly referred to as Fiorentina, is based in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. The original team was founded by a merger in August 1926 as Associazione Calcio Fiorentina. More recently, A.C. Fiorentina e Florentia Viola was refound in August 2002 following bankruptcy.
Since 1931, the club have played their home games at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Fiorentina won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1960–61, after beating Rangers 4-1 over two legs. The club made it to the final again the year after, but lost out to an impressive Atletico Madrid.
The club has won two Serie A Italian Championships, the first in 1955–56 and then again in 1968–69. The club have also achieved three Serie B titles, six Coppa Italia trophies and the 1996 Supercoppa Italiana .
Giancarlo Antognoni has made the most appearances for the club (429), Kurt Mamrin holds the overall top goalscorer record (208) and Gabriel Batistuta is the top scorer in Serie A (152).
